304L Stainless Steel Pipes & Tube

The 304L is a grade of stainless steel, tube that can have a polished and brushed shiny finish.  Type 304L grades of stainless steel pipe have good  maintainability and also have outstanding weld-ability characteristics with or without the addition of filler metals.

The tube is polished with an abrasive belt to achieve the “scratched grain” finish. It is attractive aesthetically and corrosion resistant which makes it well suited for sanitary environments. The pipe is also easily maintained, thanks to the polished finish.

304L Stainless Steel Grade Pipe

Grade 316L is the low carbon grade version of 316, it is highly resistant to sensitisation (grain boundary carbide precipitation) and so is widely used in heavy and high gauge welded components (about

5mm plus).

304H also has a requirement for a grain size of ASTM No 7 or coarser.

 

Application

The application for this type of pipe has a varied range of areas of application, especially in areas where surface condition as well as functionality is being looked at. It can be used in the following sectors:

• Boat rails and ladders. More than just functionality on the boat, the attractiveness of the polish makes it pleasing to the eye.
• Sanitary environments. They are used in making of washroom grab bars and swimming pool rails.
• Medical equipment
• Restaurant equipment. This may include linings of ovens, refrigerators, and many other applications especially in the kitchens of restaurants.
• Exercise equipment. Many of the equipment used for exercises in the gym are made of this grade of steel bars.
• Motor sports
  in the motor sports industry, they can be used as automotive step bars and grille guards.
