Engineering Plastics

Engineering Plastics

Stainless and Aluminium Services Ltd is a supplier and stockholder of various types and forms of  engineering plastics.

Acetal copolymer

Acetal (polyoxymethylene, POM) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that delivers a high strength, firmness and toughness. Acetal also traded under Delrin® is resistant to heated water, hydrocarbons and solvents, and is very durable once formed. we are available to supply the Acetal Copolymer  in a range of colors aswell as natural and black.

Acetal homopolymer

Acetal homopolymer such as DuPont™ blends lubricity and a resistance to general wear and tear with the rigidity, firmness and the toughness and durability needed to replace metal parts.

Extruded Nylon

Nylon such as Tecamid® is a very commonly used engineering thermoplastics. It has great durability and low frictional properties that make it great for mechanical performance. We can supply almost any grade of Extruded Nylon including nylon 6 and nylon 6/6 (sometimes written as nylon 66, nylon 6,6 or nylon 6.6, also PA 66) Nylon is a polyamide, hence the ‘PA’ designation. Other grades include nylon 11 and nylon 12.

Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate or PC for short are a great choice when a engineering thermoplastic is required. It is used in many different industries and has many different applications in the medical field, automotive, aircraft, security components as well as many others. It is transparent, strong and has good dimensional stability which suits it to many fields.

Polypropylene

Polypropylene or PP for short is used in many different fields including packaging and reusable containers to clothes and automotive parts, to money. Polypropylene (PP) is tough and resistant to a lot of organic solvents, degreasing agents, and acids. Polypropylene is available in two grades Polypropylene Homopolymer (PP-H) and Polypropylene Copolymer (PP-C).

PTFE

PTFE which is almost alway referred to as Polytetrafluoroethylene is an engineering plastic that has many modern day applications (also known as Teflon). PTFE is chemically inert, weatherable, a great electrical insulation, it has both a high temperature resistance, and a low coefficient of friction and non-adhesive properties

PVC

Polyvinyl chloride which is often called PVC and vinyl is the world’s third-most widely produced synthetic plastic polymer, apart from polyethylene and polypropylene. PVC has great strength, lightweight, durable and flame retardant. The characteristics of Polyvinyl chloride make them an excellent choice in kitchens and bathrooms.  This particular plastic is also a popular choice with trade customers who work in the construction industry.

Acrylic

Acrylic has many different names including Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). It is also known as acrylic or acrylic glass as well as by many different trade names such as Plexiglas, Acrylite, Lucite, and Perspex to name just a few. Acrylic engineering plastic is transparent, lightweight and shatterproof.

Tufnol Whale

Tufnol® Whale® Brand is a Medium-weave Phenolic Cotton Laminate (SRBF – Synthetic Resin Bonded Fabric). It is a well rounded engineering plastic that suit many purposes. It has good properties that are high strength, good toughness and good weatherability.

Tufnol Carp

Carp Brand TUFNOL is a high quality grade for mechanical and electromechanical uses. It is made from a number of high quality fine weave cotton fabric. Tufnol engineering plastics have a number of sought after properties include strength and good wear resistance, high machining qualities, very low water absorption, it is dimensional stability over different sizes and electrical properties are excellent for this type of material.
